Description
This is a watercolour of boats, moored in a harbour, that I did back in 1989. I based it on a photograph that my father had taken years before, whilst on holiday in England. Unfortunately, I have no idea where this harbour actually is as the photograph was taken so long ago that nobody can remember. All I know is that we had a few favourite places that we liked to return to for family holidays. North Norfolk was destination for the majority, later giving way to Kessingland in Suffolk and Romney in kent. Kent is home to the Cinque Ports, which my father had been very interested in. I have searched on Google Earth, but have yet to identify the harbour. My best guess is that it's Lowestoft in Suffolk. I will keep searching, but if anybody can help, please let me know.

Another favorite.. I studied Winslow Homer in school and this just reminds me of his work ~ beautiful, quiet and sometimes seemingly private scenes ~ like a secret place being revealed.. Your painting style is very much like Homer's more calmer land and seascapes!

Beautiful work once again! This is such a fine nautical watercolor! Very well composed, great shadows and reflections.
