Everything has to come to an end sometime, whether it is an ant or an elephant, a blade of grass or a tree. We all hope to live our lives to our full potential and have a long and happy life. Unfortunately, it doesn't always work out that way. This was a view walking along the local river bank. This, once beautiful healthy tree, for one reason or another, just keeled over and died. Maybe it had died first and fallen over the river. It had a lovely dark reflection in the almost still river. The reason that I paint or take...

I don't know if this was the meaning of the title, but can I say that it struck me as a real metaphor for who we are? We all do have that shadow of ourselves in contrast to who God made us to be. Really beautiful painting.
