I don't like to run out of subjects for new paintings and usually have three or four ideas in my head. Sometimes, I've even got a working title too, weeks before I actually do the painting. However, there is nothing like fresh inspiration and I am always looking for more ideas. On this particular day, I realised that I hadn't been out in the countryside since the winter finished and it was already early June! I set off to the local ski paths which make very pleasant summer walks and took two of my daughters with me. The younger of the two always insists on leading the way. During June, there are lots of wild flowers, lining the paths, including big displays of Lupins. I took several photos that day, but the one I painted this from captured our walk best. It's so nice to be able to remember the day with a painting instead of a photograph.
I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody.
