Autumn is such a wonderful time of the year and however many years go by, I still get surprised by it's beauty. I don't know why I stood under this maple tree, but when I looked up at the leaves as the bright sunlight shone through them, I was amazed. The colours were not yet at their peak, but the capture of the individual leaf shapes, highlighted against the blue sky, was just stunning. There were so many colours that I didn't see before. In this photograph, I managed to capture the warm rich green, mustard yellow, orange and brown colour, together with some fabulous shadows, and it is one of my favourite autumn images. I could look at this all day. An oil painted effect has been added to this image, but is only visible on the largest print sizes.
