Description
I managed to get this shot one March morning, down by the local river in Domnarvet, Borlange, Sweden. I didn't know what I would find there, but I had gone prepared with a big bag of stale bread rolls. When I came across the ducks, I enticed them out of the water with the bread whilst trying to hold the camera in my other hand. They were not exactly still and they were quick eaters. As soon as the bread was gone, the ducks were straight back in the river. Not only did they eat quickly, but every time somebody walked past with a dog, the ducks were scared away again. This was the best of about 50 attempts, but it was worth the effort. It's great to be able to study these mallards in much more detail by zooming in on the image on my computer. I really love the amazing natural texture on the male ducks body and the beautiful colours in both ducks.
