Artist's Description
A rhododendron makes a wonderful display. Just a single bloom looks quite impressive, but these fabulous flowers grow on bushes in marvellous natural bouquets. I'm proud to say that this beautiful purple rhododendron is growing in my garden. I have loved rhododendrons since I was very young, when my father attempted to grow them in his garden. He succeeded for a few years, but we had the wrong type soil and they eventually died. I don't remember enough about my dad, but for some reason, I remember most of what he taught me about gardening and what his favourite flowers were. Those flowers are now my favourites too.
About Martin Howard
I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
