Lychnis chalcedonica is just one of about 25 species of Lychnis. It is a herbaceous perennial and usually produces clusters of 10 to 50 bright red flowers. I have several plants in my garden and they make a very colourful display. I went to photograph them and couldn't help but notice this particular little cluster which had formed a heart shape.
I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
