Whenever I am out walking, looking for looking for scenes to photograph, anybody who sees me must think I'm crazy. I stop every few seconds and look around, particularly behind me, to see if the view in the other direction is better. It must look like I'm checking to see if I'm being followed. It's surprising how often the view in the opposite direction is so different and unless I took the same route home, it would be missed. This painting was done from a photograph taken whilst on a walk, hoping to find new material to paint. It comes from a lovely area called "Bergebo" in the town of Borlange, Sweden. This is the view, looking back, from just below the slopes where all the local children like to go sledging in the winter. It's very scenic in the summer too.

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
