This was the view from a power station (in Sweden) that I worked at for a couple of years. It was early one winters morning and very cold, 20 to 25 degrees below zero. There was a thick sheet of ice over the river in the foreground. The sun had just come up and there were clouds of mist rising from the icy water as it flowed downstream. There were three of us working on a heritage project to renovate all the windows in the original building. We took our lunch and coffee breaks in a new building at the other side of the dam so we had a little walk to get between the two buildings each day. That meant that we got to take in sights like this one. I managed to get a photo which I did this painting from. It wasn't easy to paint. I wanted to show the icy mist hovering over the river. The river, being partly covered in ice, had a unusual shape, but I painted it as I saw it. This certainly makes me feel cold when I look at it.

Your Best Work 11/10/2013
I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
