The first snow of the winter has laid a white blanket over the forest. The undergrowth still shows through the snow in some places and the green of the pine trees is still quite visible. Even though it's so cold, the winter sunshine has a warmth to it. The shadows it creates in the snow adds so many colours to the landscape that weren't there before. It's always a challenge to paint a snow scene, which one would expect to be very white. I fact, there is very little white in my painting. The snow is painted using yellow, blue and purple and yet it is still white snow. The biggest challenge of all is to capture the lovely warmth of the sunlight without losing the cold winter feeling. Just take a couple of steps back from this and see if I succeeded.

This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
