Artist's Description

One of the greatest inventions of the last century was the digital camera. It greatly reduced the cost of photography and meant that anybody could take hundreds of photographs a week instead of counting each one down from 24 or 36 on a roll of film. This lovely view of grasses highlighted by the late afternoon sunshine, would never of made it to my camera then. These days I would not miss a photograph like this. This is a little 'wild' area of my garden where the grass is allowed to grow tall and English brambles flourish. It's a common sight in England, but not in the part of Sweden where I live.

Martin Howard

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody.
