Oakworth is a West Yorkshire village which lies between the towns of Haworth and Keighley. As well as being located in the heart of Bronte Country, an area said to have inspired many of the works of the Bronte sisters, it's mainly known for it's delightful little railway station, part of the preserved Keighley and Worth Valley Steam Railway. Oakworth station played a key part in the 1970 film, The Railway Children, based on the novel by E. Nesbit. There can hardly be a person in Britain, who hasn't seen this film and been touched by the moving scene towards the end of the film where the character of Roberta, played by Jenny Agutter, runs down the platform to meet her father when he gradually emerges from a cloud of steam as the train he was on pulls away. I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
