Artist's Description

Lucifer Sam is title that I borrowed from a song by Pink Floyd. It appeared on their 1967 album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn. The song was about a mysterious cat. That's one reason why I used the title but also because the name 'Lucifer' has become associated with Satan/the devil. I thought this cat had taken on an evil look. I don't think the cat in the song was evil. One of the lines in the song was "that cat's something I can't explain", but my cat, I can explain. Although I painted Lucifer Sam in watercolours, you would never think so looking at the finished product. The original was one of those paintings that didn't quite have the same impact as I intended. I managed to save something from my painting by using a very simple computer/camera effect. I have put the full story on my Facebook page for anybody that is interested: https://www.facebook.com/ArtOfMart

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
