The hamlet of Porlock Weir lies on the West Somerset coast between Minehead and Lynton. Porlock Weir was built up around a port which has existed for over 1000 years and is steeped in history. It was visited by Danes in 86 AD. The port was mainly used for importing coal from South Wales, across The Bristol Channel. During the Second World War, local timber was exported to South Wales to be used as pit props. The history of Porlock Weir includes, invasions, shipwrecks and heroic lifeboat rescues, but these days it is used as a harbour for small yachts and fishing boats. The harbour is full of interest and is often frequented by artists and photographers as well hundreds of tourists every year. This scene of the harbour at low tide includes just a couple of boats, but there are usually lots more.

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
