This is an impressionist watercolour of Joyful West's in Sheringham high street and on the corner of Gun Street, close to the seafront. Anyone who has ever been to Sheringham will know this view and most will have at some point bought something here. Joyful West's sell locally caught shellfish. What a lovely name this little shop, owned by the West family has and they get some very good reviews too! This view has remained largely unchanged for many years, at least, all the years I have been there. I was first introduced to Sheringham as a child. In those days, I was most interested in the beach, the railway and the putting green, all the while subconsciously taking in the charm and beauty of the town that would draw me back there many times throughout my life. I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
