This delightful scene is what greeted me as I made my way home from a walk by the local river. The riverside path suddenly comes to an end, with a sharp climb as the river reaches a road bridge. The other side of the bridge is a steel works, so the path can't continue. The building that can be seen is an old school which has recently been converted into apartments. I think it looks wonderful and must have been a great place to go to school, especially as looking in the opposite direction is a lovely view of the river. I had already photographed the school from the top of the path, for a painting which I haven't done yet. This view, looking up at the school, made the trees seem so much bigger and dramatic, so I painted this one first. I wonder if the people who have lived here all their lives, really appreciate the beauty of the local area.

This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
