Description
A painting goes a long way to help hold onto those memories of wonderful, happy days that are gone too soon. This was the first time I painted one of my children. This is the black and white version of my painting. It was from a photo that I always loved, taken about ten years before the painting. That's how long it took me to pluck up the courage to paint it. I had to do the photo and my daughter justice. I hope I did that, but because of the fear of getting it wrong, I painted in a different style and with small brushes. I didn't want an exact copy of the photo, otherwise I might have used oils instead. When I took the original photo, I never realised how quicky time would pass. How important it is to take photos, film videos or even do paintings and drawings. I just couldn't remember everything without that. Maybe the sadness of those wonderful moments, slipping further away each day, wouldn't seem so bad if I couldn't remember. If only we could go back and do it all again!
