For years, I talked about buying a Japanese Maple Tree, but each time I found one, they always seemed so expensive. One day I went to a garden show and someone was selling small seedlings at a low price and I couldn't resist. Each year it grew bigger and stronger and I watched the leaves turn a bright red colour each autumn. When I decided to move to Sweden, my Japanese Maple had to stay in England. I left it with my mother and it's been growing bigger and better each year and has become quite a feature of her garden. I took this photograph September 2012. The maple was looking stunning, with the sun shinning through it's leaves making lovely shadows. The plant behind it had bright green leaves, making a nice contrast with the red maple leaves and the dark background. It wasn't until I got home that I noticed that the image had a very mystical appearance. The lighter leaves looked like angels and the darker leaves like dragons. Can you see them? I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
