This is an early 1970's view of a horse and dray standing outside Adnams Brewery, Southwold, Suffolk. Beer was still delivered to the pubs of Southwold by this method until 2006. I painted this from an old polaroid photo my dad took on a family holiday. My dad died unexpectedly, just a few years later. That was long before I took up painting. This 'joint effort' is a reminder to me of all the fantastic holidays I had as a child. What I would give for just a few minutes back then standing there with my dad! It wasn't until very recently, that I found out which town this is. I was too young at the time to remember. By chance, my son was on holiday in Southwold. He sent me a text message to say he was at the brewery there. I knew I'd also been there on holiday and it suddenly clicked. I did a search on Google Earth just to confirm I was right. It was great to be able travel down this road again even if it was on the computer screen.

This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
