Artist's Description
The Monterey International Pop Music Festival was a three day event held at the Monterey County Fairgrounds, Monterey, California from June 16th to the 18th, 1967. One of the most famous rock performances of all time is that of Jimi Hendrix playing at Monterey on the final day. The most memorable part of that performance being, when nearing the end of playing a cover of The Troggs' 'Wild Thing', Jimi began to set fire to his guitar with lighter fuel, culminating with him smashing it into the stage. Jimi Hendrix, apart from his legendary guitar playing, was renowned for his striking and flamboyant clothing. Jimi's band, The Jimi Hendrix Experience, were invited to play at Monterey after being suggested by Paul McCartney to Publicist Derek Taylor. Taylor was a long-time collaborator with The Beatles and one of the four instigators of the Monterey festival. Before his performance at Monterey, Jimi was virtually unknown in America.

This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
