Artist's Description

A giant stone mushroom found in Bergebo, Borlange, Sweden. It's amazing what you can find in the forest. I was out looking for wild mushrooms, several years ago, when I stumbled upon this interesting natural rock formation. I did go on to find some edible mushrooms, but they were not quite as big. For a couple of years, I used this landmark as a starting point from which I could find plentiful mushrooms. Recently, I couldn't even find the giant one. It's not surprising as it's very well hidden in the forest. When I did find it again, it no longer lead me to my mushroom hotspot. I would have thought this unusual stone structure would be famous, but I have found no mention of it. Perhaps it's only me that likens it to a mushroom, but others must have seen it from time to time. It's quite a mystery!

About Martin Howard

Martin Howard

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
