Description
On the 15th of February 2014, the West Somerset preserved steam railway had a limited train service scheduled, marking the start of the new season. The railway runs almost 23 miles between Bishops Lydeard and Minehead. This train with it's empty coaches was on it's way up from Minehead to provide the first train of the day from Bishops Lydeard, but it hadn't had an easy journey. The area had suffered many storms and received unusually high rainfall for several weeks. The train had to stop to remove a fallen tree and after that could not get traction on the slippery rails. It had been delayed by over an hour so to avoid any further problems, had stopped at Williton station where a diesel locomotive was coupled to the back of the train for extra power. All the action at Williton was captured by YouTube user ADMIRALSCORNER and with his kind permission I have painted this scene from the video.
