Description
This is a small part of my watercolour painting, I'm Only Dreaming. At the time I painted it, I was looking for new subjects and maybe a new direction, away from all the Swedish landscapes I had been doing. I got the idea of putting some nude women in a painting. I came up with a sleeping fisherman dreaming about two beautiful nude women splashing around in the river. The nudes were a little understated though and very small. I made this image to bring out this important part of my painting. I could repaint this scene at some point and make it much bigger, but because I painted it so small on this occasion and because of the rough texture of the paper, when the image is enlarged I think it creates an interesting effect. The paper seems to take on a shine and the shadows of the paper's texture all combine to make a most unexpected look to the picture which I really like.
