Artist's Description
I painted this many years ago when I was still in my teens. Maybe that's why I never appreciated it. Now when I look at it, I absolutely love it. I have only ever finished about five oil paintings in my life (I started many more). I'm so glad that this is one of the ones I persevered with. When I finally uploaded this painting to the Internet, I was quite surprised at how much detail I had managed to put in. The garden is done in a very impressionist style and it's difficult to make out what the plants are, although I do like the way it came out. Obviously the foreground plants are tulips, which leads me to believe that this cottage is actually in Holland. Where I used more detail, is in the cottage itself. I particularly like the window on the far right, where I have even painted something standing inside.

About Martin Howard
I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs. This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
