Description
This is Stora Tuna Kyrka. Stora Tuna is a parish in Dalarna, Sweden. Kyrka is Swedish for church. The church lies in the town of Borlange and was built in 1469. It is built of grey stone and pieces of brick with a white stucco finish. The roof is slate. The tower is 86 meters and covered with copper sheet. The first tower was constructed in the middle of the 15th century but was destroyed by fire in 1590. A new on was built in 1610. The spire was set on fire by lighting strikes in 1664 and 1807 when the bells were lost after crashing to the ground from the burning structure. The present day spire is from 1914-1917. The church has four bells. The oldest dates back to 1807 and the newest 1976.
