Description
It is quite amazing how a bright pink apple bud can end up flowering so white! I just had to call this photo of brilliant white apple blossom, "Snow White". The reason being that the tree is called "Rodluvan". Rodluvan is Swedish for red hood which is their name for the Grimm brother's fairytale "Little Red Riding Hood". The tree is so named because it produces lovely deep red apples with pink flesh. They are very tasty apples and I can't wait for September to roll round each year, when they ripen. The tree is very cold tolerant as you would expect from a cross between a Canadian and a Russian apple. The Rodluvan apple, pronounced rerdloovan, produces a very large crop every year. Unfortunately, this particular apple type doesn't store well, so needs using or preserving fairly soon. If you like apple pies, maybe that's not so unfortunate!
