Description
I really can't take all the credit for this photograph because I never would have taken it, if one of my daughters hadn't come to me with these red clover flowers and asked me to put them in water. She is eight years old and has a real knack of picking pretty little bouquets of wildflowers. I put the flowers in a sherry glass and thought that they looked so good that I would take a photo. It wasn't until I looked at the photo that I noticed the willow leaves she had put in the arrangement instead of clover leaves. I used a posterizing effect on the photo and was pretty pleased with this final image.
Red Clover (Trifolium pratense) is the national flower of Denmark and the state flower of Vermont. This species of clover is native to Europe, Western Asia and north west Africa, although it can also be found in many other regions.
It is an herbaceous, perennial plant, used as both cattle feed and as a green manure. Red Clover also has a variety of medicinal uses.
