Description
This delightful cottage can be found in the West Somerset village of Dunster. I have travelled through Dunster so many times, on the West Somerset Railway, that I have lost count. The village has a railway station and lies between the village of Blue Anchor and the Minehead, one of Somerset's best known towns. My love of the steam trains has kept me from getting off to explore more often, but on one occasion, I gave the trains a miss and walked from Blue Anchor to Dunster. The scenery was so beautiful that I will never forget it. The walk passed through ripe wheat fields, past the village's famous castle and down a hill towards Dunster. At the foot of the hill was a stream with a wonderful little stone bridge. Not long after crossing it, I came to this cottage. That was many years ago, but I was recently reminded of it by a video from YouTube user AdmiralsCorner, who was only too pleased for me to use it as reference for this painting.
