Description
I was not aware of these beautiful flowers until I spotted them growing in the flower beds at a railway station, while on holiday in the early nineties. I thought they were wonderful and decided to get some for my garden, but I had no idea what they were called or where to get them. I bought a few plants and seeds which were similar but not right before I eventually found out that they were called Old-Fashioned Marigolds or Calendula. They are so easy to grow from seed that I have grown them most years since then. These particular flowers are from my garden in Sweden. I had some plants over so I just planted them in a little bit of land that let grow wild. The colourful blooms really seemed to explode out of the shadows. A summer without these flowers is like Christmas without a Christmas tree! I've added a digital oil painting effect to this image to enable spectacular larger print sizes.
