I don't know why, but I began to see things differently this year. Suddenly I see beauty all around me as if I was seeing everything for the first time. Everyday objects became works of art and I couldn't go outside without noticing something that would make a great photograph. This was one of those moments. I was standing, chatting to a friend in the garden, when I noticed how the sunlight caught this blade of grass. Not only that, but it had such a lovely shape to it and the rays of light shining through a fence panel just added to the image. I was itching to fetch my camera and capture it before the angle of the sun changed. I was becoming more and more desperate, but I dared not say to my friend to wait there while I get my camera. How could I tell him that I needed to photograph a blade of grass? Anyway, he eventually left and I got my photo. I changed it to monochrome and it's now one of my favourite black and white photographs.
