The strawberry is a symbol of the summer. Strawberries are one of the post popular if not the most popular summer fruit. When the summer comes, everybody wants one.....or maybe several. The strawberries I used for my initial photograph, had just been picked from my garden. These particular strawberries are called 'Polka'. I don't know if they are available everywhere or just in Scandinavia. I've been growing these for six or seven years now and they are a real favourite of mine. They are a middle early variety with large shiny dark red berries and an aromatic taste. Apparently, they can be deep frozen although none of my crop of strawberries has ever made it that far!
