Description
I love the summer, except when it it rains the whole time. This year, 2013, it hardly rained at all. The temperature was perfect, warm, but not too warm. What more could one ask for? Only that it didn't have to end. How I have studied the apples on the trees, dreading the time when they would be fully grown and ripe, signalling the end of summer and harvest time. However, the apples did swell and become ripe. Suddenly it hit me one day as I gazed at the sun, slightly lower in the sky, shining through the long grass. The grass was heavy with dew and there were brown seed pods where there had been magnificent purple irises. Even the nettles were looking tired. Such a lovely day, yet it was trying to say something. Just like looking into a woman's eyes, filled with tears as she tries to say it's over.
