Description
This is the first painting that I did of Ashridge woods. This is a sunny Sunday morning, during a peaceful and relaxing stroll to an area where there are several Chestnut trees. This autumn scene is from October when the bright sun is low in the sky and takes a while to clear the early morning mist. I tried to capture the feel of the chilly morning and the sunshine finally breaking through the trees, making strong shadows on the blanket of autumn leaves on the ground. Ashridge woods is part of the Ashridge Estate, Berkhamsted, England, owned and maintained by The National Trust. The entire estate covers an area of 2000 hectares or 5000 acres. A large part of the estate is covered by beautiful woodland and comprises a network of footpaths. Some of these (nature trails) are marked by numbered posts, which are great fun for children to find and follow. This scene was taken from one of these nature trails. On such days, these woods draw hundreds of visitors. Even with the high numbers of visitors, Ashridge woods offer a peaceful and beautiful area where one can come to enjoy nature and observe a host of wildlife.

Wonderful work! I like how even how you worked the tree branches, it all leads one down the road. So well done!
