When out for walks in the great outdoors, it's well worth stopping and having a look around now and then. Just think, if I had never taken the time to look up at this beautiful view that I saw in Ashridge woods. Ashridge woods is part of the Ashridge Estate, Berkhamsted, England, owned and maintained by The National Trust. The entire estate covers an area of 2000 hectares or 5000 acres. A large part of the estate is covered by beautiful woodland and comprises a network of footpaths. Some of these (nature trails) are marked by numbered posts, which are great fun for children to find and follow. This is a little spot, on one of the nature trails, that my family have been going to for years. There is a large area of Chestnut trees and usually by the third week of October, the best chestnuts are falling. It's great fun to collect chestnuts as long as you don't get one fall on your head! I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
