Description
A most beautiful pink Aquilegia growing in my garden on a sunny afternoon in early June. What a wonderful and easy to grow flower these aquilegias are. All it took was a sprinkling of seeds and now I have this delightful perrenial to look forward to each summer. This plant is also known as Granny's Bonnet, but I've most often heard them referred to as Columbine. Once established, aquilegias will easily reproduce as theirs seed pods break open and scatter hundereds of seeds in the wind, but I think it's better to set your own seeds to obtain more variation in colour. It's not only the colour that can vary. Even the distinctive shape of the flower head can be quite different, so they can be quite interesting to collect if you have the garden space. I'm happy with just this one. It even has a heart in the background.
