Description
This beautiful blossom comes from a Swedish apple tree called Cox Pomona. It is one of four apple trees in my garden. This particular tree has not produced much in the way of fruit so far. It seemed to have had a tough time getting established. The roots didn't seem to grow very fast and and one point, the tree nearly blew over in strong winds. Finally, last year, after about six years, it started to have a growth spurt. This year it is covered in blossom and it looks like there will be a good crop of apples from the tree for once. One of the main reasons for choosing this apple sort, was that it is a winter apple. The apples are harvested as late as November and can be stored for several months. Together with the other three trees, I should have apples to eat from the end of August until well into next year. It looks like it will be a good year for apple pies!
