A macro image of a beautiful French Marigold flower, also known as tagetes patula, growing in my garden. When I was a young boy, my dad used to take the family to local flower festivals. Sometimes we would see little displays made by children, using French Marigold heads. The heads were arranged in pretty patterns with a background of green moss. These displays were made in seed trays and looked quite impressive. One day my dad said I could make one. Presumably, the heads were picked from our garden. The thought of picking so many beautiful flower heads in their prime horrifies me and all I can say is we must have had a lot a French marigolds that year. These days I like to see the flowers still attached to the plants! They really have a wonderful rich colour. At the moment they are a deep red, but as more flowers appear, they slowly become much more orange.

This in turn, is influencing my ideas for paintings. Anybody visiting my website, will find a real mixture of styles and mediums and I believe, something for everybody. The reason that I paint or take...
