The Pop Art Rose was never meant to be pop art and I had never even considered producing anything remotely pop art. It came about because I wanted to photograph a beautiful rose that stood in my kitchen window. It's a strange miniature rose that has a wonderful deep orangey yellow colour which changes to yellow then cream before finally becoming white. I only had my mobile phone for a camera and I just couldn't focus properly. In frustration, I switched it to a posterizing effect and came up with this image. The image was still relatively small, so I used a few digital effects to get it up to a much bigger size. Unfortunately, I didn't capture my rose as I had intended, but I didn't go away empty handed. My final image was just as impressive and while I can't take the credit this artistic impression of my rose, I can't take credit for it's natural beauty either.

I am an English Artist living in Borlange, Sweden since 2005. I have been painting on and off since the early eighties, in oils to begin with before moving on to watercolours. I also have an interest in photography which I have often used as part of my preliminary work for my paintings. In recent months, I have had a little extra time on my hands, which has fuelled my artistic fire. I find that I am experimenting much more with my photography to create more abstract images at the same time as learning new methods of processing photographs.
