Description
Dalarna is the county in middle Sweden where I live. The first year that I lived here, I started painting again, after a break of fourteen years. It was probably due to the change of scenery, that I became inspired to paint. I had no car, so my subjects for paintings were mostly close to home. After a while, I wanted a little more variety, so I asked if anybody had any photographs that would make good paintings. I was given quite a few, but the only problem is that people do not always remember where they took their photos. There are so many beautiful areas to visit in Dalarna, but many look fairly similar and if you don't keep notes and go out in the countryside often, it can be easy to forget where you have been. Somewhere in Dalarna is a beautiful lake, surrounded by birch and other deciduous and evergreen trees. Where that somewhere is, I cannot say, but I would like to go there one day. This scene is probably sometime in October, towards the end of autumn, just before the first snow. I thought the sky and it's reflection were fantastic. I ended up including this painting in the first calendar I had made.
