Description
When I first decided to upload my paintings to the Internet, I hadn't painted anything new for eight years. The excitement of sharing my work with others and seeing other's work relit my artistic desires and creativity and this lead to some interesting photography experiments. I also, at this time, started to enter a lot of online contests on Fine Art America. In fact I tried to enter them all. I could usually find some piece of work that would fit the requirements of the contest. Sometimes it wasn't so easy. The contest that I created this photograph for, asked for images that showed refracted light through water. It was early spring and far too early for pools and using a bathtub to create something, just seemed too messy. In the end, I came up with an idea that made sure my image would comply. I took photos of reflected images and light in a DVD disc, through a jam jar filled with water. I'm not sure what I ended up capturing here or where the refraction took place. The only thing I can make out is part of a tea mug. The image looks to me like a road which disappears into a giant wormhole. It was a unique, colourful and unrepeatable image. It didn't come anywhere in the contest, but I love it!
