Description
It's funny how we pick up names and store them in our memories without knowing it and sometimes we don't even remember who or what those names are. It's not until we are reminded of that name in some way, that the cogs in our memories start to turn. You never know what might come out. I took one look at this image and thought 'Black Narcissus'. Where did that come from suddenly? The association of a daffodil with the name narcissus is obvious and with the dark colouration, maybe it's easy to come up with such a name. However, that name was already in my head. I tried to find information or an image of a black narcissus. Nothing! My daffodil certainly is a rare one, but how could I have the name in my head for something that doesn't exist? After doing a little more research I found that 'Black Narcissus' was the name of a film from 1947 based on a book from 1939. That was news to me or at least I think it is.

Love this ~ I've "heard" this flower before! Reminds me of my "miss-spent" youth and the wondrous things I saw!! :):):)

Interesting, mysterious commentary to go with your beautiful, psychedelic Black Narcissus.
